A Sense of Place:
Our Treasure Houses

Kerri’s work focuses on man-made, industrial or urban settings reflecting her curiosity for architectural spaces, drawn towards unusual forms, patterns and hidden layers.

Whilst her initial ideas were around the museums and stately homes for which Derbyshire is renowned with their fabulous collections, her approach was more personal connecting with the architecture of her childhood when she grew up in an ex-mining town in the 1970s.  This provided her starting point and led her to explore the treasure of this landscape and what were the treasure houses?  She looked at how industry had developed using the very basic resources of the land, thereby creating new ways of making a living, new possibilities and the creation of a different landscape of sprawling towns and communities.
